Bluewater Sponsors China’s First Offshore Sailing Tournament
Shanghai, China, September 24, 2018 – Bluewater, the world leader in innovative premium water purification technologies and solutions, has stepped in as a sponsor of China’s first offshore sailing tournament, China Open Sailing (COS).
The month-long tournament, which launched in the port-city of Dalian, in Liaoning Province, will run throughout much of October with stop-overs in other principal Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Quanzhou and Shenzhen.
“Bluewater will serve as official water supplier to China Open Sailing to help raise awareness about the need to protect the planet’s oceans environments and encourage Chinese citizens to care for China’s precious water resources,” said Laurence Dai, deputy general manager for Bluewater China.
He said Bluewater’s involvement replicates the role the company and its water purifying tech solutions successfully played in reducing the amount of single-use plastic bottles utilised during the recently concluded around-the-world 2017/2018 Volvo Ocean Race. With Bluewater help, the Volvo Ocean Race concluded it saved the use of almost 400,000 single use plastic bottles during the event.
“The COS tournament is a unique opportunity to connect the deliverable sustainability values of Bluewater with high-end sportsmanship and influential Chinese partners who share our passion for excellence and protecting ocean and water environments,” Mr. Dai noted.
As part of its sponsorship role, Bluewater will provide two hydration stations and sustainable glass bottles in Shanghai and Shenzhen that will enable visitors to the stopover ‘villages’ to drink pure water and discover how Bluewater contributes towards protecting the health and wellbeing of both humans and the planet.
The water refill stations utilise Bluewater powerhouse Pro water purifiers, which use the company’s unique patented technology to deliver an unmatched clean water delivery rate from a highly compact, under-sink unit smaller than an upmarket coffee maker. The Pro is designed to remove all known water contaminants including lead, copper, micro-plastics and viruses, and capable of delivering almost six liters of pure water per minute for homes, businesses or public drinking water stations.
A Bluewater White Paper noted how a recent study by a US research team at Orb Media found: “…a single bottle can hold dozens or possibly even thousands of microscopic plastic particles.” Tests by Orb Media on over 250 water bottles from 11 brands revealed plastic contamination, including polypropylene, nylon, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
Mr Dai says Bluewater has put giving people access to clean water delivered sustainably everywhere at the heart of the company’s business vision, which he says aligns perfectly with the environmental goals of the COS founding partners, the Chinese Yachting Association and Dalian Sports Bureau.
“The aim of our sponsorship of China Open Sailing tournament is to raise interest in the superior water quality and the solutions that deliver it, as well encourage a broad commitment to help the world battle single-use plastics pollution,” said Laurence Dai
